✨ The Pergola Garden Catio

The Brief

This project was created for four rescue cats, relocated from Dubai — each needing a safe, secure way to experience the outdoors in their new environment.

The owners wanted to introduce outdoor access in a way that felt calm, spacious, and enriching, while ensuring the structure blended naturally into their established garden.

With multiple cats, the space needed to support movement, independence, and rest — without ever feeling crowded or overstimulating.

The Design

We designed a pergola-style catio that sits lightly within the garden, allowing it to feel open, considered, and in keeping with its surroundings.

A full mesh roof was chosen to maintain maximum airflow and connection to the outdoors, while still providing complete safety and protection.

The structure was carefully positioned and proportioned to complement the garden — ensuring it enhances the space rather than dominating it.

The Build

Internally, the layout was designed to accommodate multiple cats comfortably.

The space includes:

A dedicated den area for retreat and rest
Elevated shelving for observation and personal space
Ramps to allow smooth, easy movement between levels

Each feature was placed to encourage natural behaviour while giving each cat the opportunity to find their own space within the environment.

The Result

The finished catio offers a calm, secure transition into outdoor living.

For these four rescue cats, it provides a safe and enriching space to explore, observe, and relax — at their own pace.

For the owners, it’s a structure that feels fully integrated within the garden — practical, considered, and designed to last.
